AFC SOUTH FREE AGENCY FRENZY

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars
The clear favorite in this division are the Jaguars. The end of last season was the teams’ and Trevor Lawrence’s break out party. This team has fast and skilled playmakers on offense and an underrated defense. They should dominate the AFC South and make the playoffs. That doesn’t mean that they will have a good playoff run though as they really haven’t done anything in free agency besides lose their starting offensive tackle and key linebacker. In the draft the Jaguars should look for offensive line help and more defensive playmakers. If they can hit on those picks they could run away with this division.
  2. Indianapolis Colts
It is not fun to pick a team to finish second in the AFC South because they all project to be pretty bad right now. If we knew who the Colts were going to take with the fourth-overall pick it would definitely help because we don’t know who their starting quarterback will be. If they can get C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young, they could be decent this season. This team still has one of the most talented running backs in the league as well in Jonathan Taylor and a good wideout in Michael Pittman. The defense needs a major overhaul and the offensive line needs help as well. Their offseason moves have not been promising to address those needs so maybe they could in the draft after taking a QB.
  3. Tennessee Titans
Last year we saw a major regression for the Titans and this upcoming year it could be even worse. For the past three seasons they have given up one of their top wide receivers. It started with Corey Davis, then AJ Brown, and now Robert Woods. Now it seems that they may have to move on from Derrick Henry as well. This defense has been solid over the recent years but the offense lacks firepower outside of Henry who now could be gone. They did sign Andre Dillard to help on the offensive line but will need to get playmakers in the draft. Unfortunately, they don’t pick until the second round.
  4. Houston Texans
There are a lot of unknowns with the Texans, especially at quarterback. Davis Mills will likely be the starter to begin the season but it could be C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, or another rookie at some point. After winning just three games last year it is hard to say that this team will be much better. They did get some defensive help with safety Jimmie Ward and Shledon Rankins but their defense still projects to be bad. With their other first-round pick, the 12th overall, they should get a young wideout to pair with their new quarterback. Unless their rookie QB is really good, they should still finish last in the AFC South.
