NFC EAST FREE AGENCY FRENZY

  1. Philadelphia Eagles
The surprise of the NFL was both the NFC East and the Philadelphia Eagles who lost just three regular-season games and made it to the Super Bowl. There is no doubt that the Eagles should be favorites heading into the season in this division as they did a good job of retaining the majority of their core players. On offense this team will not miss a beat without Miles Sanders. Kenneth Gainwell and newly signed Rashaad Penny should fill in nicely, or even better. Their defense was maintained by keeping Brandon Graham, James Bradberry, Fletcher Cox, and Darius Slay. Philadelphia will also pick 12th in the draft and should go for a defensive lineman.
  2. Dallas Cowboys
It was the best season for Dallas last year since 2016 but they still seemed to be missing something that would take them to the next level. Dak Prescott has been good but not great and will likely need to make a jump to get this team to a Super Bowl and surpass the Eagles. A big help could be the signing of Brandin Cooks as the second wide receiver on this team. He could be a key piece to this offense to help take pressure off of Ceedee Lamb and give Prescott a deep threat. Getting Stephon Gilmore was also big for this defense. You never know what Dallas will do in the draft but it seems like they might add another pass rusher.
  3. New York Giants
The Giants, like the Cowboys, had their best season in years. This team is leaning into a style of play that hasn’t been effective recently in the NFL, running the ball with a top-tier running back and managing with an average quarterback. Daniel Jones got a huge contract after last season and will look to take this team back to the playoffs. A big addition for this team was getting Darren Waller who is a top tight end in the league that could provide a big spark to this passing game. Upgrading their offensive line would be a good idea heading into the draft, as well as upgrading their defense overall.
  4. Washington Commanders
This team is not expected to contend this season with three teams that all expect to make the playoffs in their division. Washington signed Jacoby Brisset, who looks like he could be their quarterback week one right now. That is not great and this team also needs help in a lot of different areas. There haven’t been any huge signings for Washington and they could just be taking this season as a rebuilding year. In the draft they have the 16th overall pick where they could opt to go defense with a defensive back or linebacker. Any additional picks or moves will likely be for the future, not this season.
